Making on-demand grocery delivery simpler for Canadians is Loblaw Companies Ltd ("Loblaw") in partnership with DoorDash, Inc., which combines last-mile experience with the country's largest retail network. Customers may now purchase groceries for delivery from more than 1,100 Loblaw banner shops, including Loblaws®, Real Canadian Superstore®, Shoppers Drug Mart®, Provigo®, Atlantic Superstore®, and Maxi & Cie®, directly on the DoorDash Marketplace app. This is in addition to the pre-existing option of placing grocery orders on Loblaw's own PC Express app.
Through this partnership, DoorDash will also run the same-day delivery service from pcexpress.ca using DoorDash Drive, a fulfillment platform that facilitates direct delivery to consumers for any business. “Online grocery has changed. It is not a one-size fits all solution. Customers are looking for varying levels of convenience – orders within minutes, shopping from favorite apps, and a seamless experience,” said the President and Chairman of Loblaw Companies Ltd., Galen G. Weston.
“DoorDash brings best-in-class logistics expertise and operational excellence to our extensive relationship, which makes them the ideal strategic partner for us to address our evolving needs as we look to get consumers exactly what they want when they want it,” Weston further added.
Customers who want convenience, ease, and speed may now order groceries and other necessities on-demand for delivery using the DoorDash Marketplace app, with no time window or queue limitations. Through DoorDash, Loblaw will deliver more than 50,000 grocery and convenience products, including prepared and fresh foods, groceries, flowers, and drugstore supplies. Consumers may buy a week's worth of groceries, which can include dairy products, bread, eggs, fresh meat, seafood, and local produce, or even request cooked meals on a hectic day, right on the DoorDash Marketplace app.
Customers can receive $10 off orders from Loblaw banner stores placed through the DoorDash Marketplace app until October 23rd, 2022, as a way of celebrating this partnership. DashPass members will have access to all products from the banner stores of Loblaws®, Real Canadian Superstore®, Shoppers Drug Mart®, Provigo®, Atlantic Superstore®, and Maxi & Cie® for an unlimited $0 delivery fee and lowered service fee on qualified orders that fulfill minimum subtotal requirements.
"At DoorDash, our goal is to be the go-to partner for grocers, connecting them with consumers for the best online grocery experience. Our collaboration with Loblaw brings fourteen different banner stores onto the DoorDash Marketplace app for on-demand delivery, to nearly three-quarters of consumers across Canada, and reinforces our commitment to that goal. We are excited to collaborate with the largest retailer in Canada and look forward to deepening the relationship,” said the Co-founder and CEO of DoorDash, Tony Xu.
DoorDash collaborates with numerous well-known local and national brands in a variety of markets, including grocery, convenience, pet, retail, and pharmacy delivery. The launch comes in continuation to DoorDash's expansion into other categories outside of food, connecting shoppers with the finest of their neighborhood in convenience and food at the stroke of a button.
